about WILSON YIP
An award-winning and multi-skilled Creative/Film Director, Wilson has worked extensively with international and local artistes, established advertising agencies, ministries and government agencies, as well as major TV and corporate clients for two decades. His experience and works run the gamut in range and genres – from narratives to commercials, brandings to documentaries, campaigns to animation, and installations to corporate films.
Wilson’s unique brand of romanticism, storytelling techniques and skills, and compelling visual style are evident in the majority of his works – traditional or VFX-laced. A promo film he conceptualized and directed for Oppo R17 Pro (Vietnam) quickly garnered over 8 million views when released in 2018. His inspiring short film “Dakota” clinched both Gold & Silver awards at the 2017 Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, adding to his collection of Gold, Silver and Bronze awards won at Promax Global/Asia and New York Festivals for various other projects. His short films have premiered at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai and competed internationally, winning awards in Berlin, Paris and Singapore.
An honours graduate from Chapman University’s film school in California, Wilson also composes music recreationally - his popular Hokkien song “Xiu Na Chuay” is one of the highlights in the Singapore feature film “Eating Air”. He is currently the Head of Creative/Film Director at WOWFX Studios (Singapore).
